Frequently Asked Questions
-
Therapy is helpful for anyone looking to process difficult emotions, navigate life transitions, build healthier habits, or work through specific mental health concerns like anxiety or trauma. You do not need to be in a crisis to benefit from counseling.
-
Friends offer valuable support, but they carry their own opinions, expectations, and life experiences into the conversation. Therapy provides a non-judgmental, strictly confidential space focused entirely on your well-being. A therapist brings clinical training, objective perspective, and evidence-based strategies to help you process challenges without personal bias.

Instead of telling you how to live your life, my role is to help you gain clarity, develop insight, and learn practical tools so you can make confident decisions for yourself. Therapy is a collaborative process designed to empower you, not to dictate your choices.

Telehealth allows you to attend sessions from the comfort and privacy of your own home or private space. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform to protect your confidentiality. All you need is a stable internet connection and a quiet, private area.

Before our first meeting, you will complete a few simple electronic intake forms. During the initial session, we will focus on getting to know you, discussing what brought you to therapy, reviewing your goals, and answering any questions. If you are joining via telehealth, simply set up in a comfortable spot where you will not be interrupted.

Standard individual talk therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Some clients value an 80 minute talk therapy session. For trauma therapy, I typically ask for 90 minutes to complete EMDR and ART. Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to build momentum, but we will tailor the frequency to fit your specific needs and schedule.

The duration depends on your personal goals, the issues we are addressing, and the therapeutic approaches we use. Some clients find clarity and actionable tools in a few months, while others prefer ongoing, longer-term support. We will regularly review your progress together.
